Composer's Notes
Movement I – Presto: this is a short little piece for flute, clarinet, and piano. Filled with heavy jazz textures, this chaotic first movement moves quickly from idea to idea. Following this, the second half of the movement explores the more subtle, tranquil side of the jazz idiom. The piece sends things off on an eerie note, which serves as the transition to the second movement.
